Trip

I am off to Spain tomorrow, off to warm weather, sun and sea. Doubt it'll be warm enough to swim, but who knows at least it is springy. I love snow and this winter has been the best so far, but I am itching for spring to come, thus my exuberance at taking this trip.

Ice queen laying your robes over rocks, grass and tree tops,
Turn again from whence you came,
Snow white land over cast by clouds and tiny slivers of sun drops,
Let the warmth of spring cover you the same.

Peeking out from a snowy patch cozy in a bed of emerald green,
Little dots of blue, purple and white,
Heralding the coming of winter's demise and sunshine's reign,
Of death reborn and filled with life.

Of Teeth

Kenny lost his first tooth, with Darren following a few days later. The tooth fairy was generous and gave them 2 franks each. Oh yay. On the other hand Dustin has gained 2 teeth. Maybe she passed them on to him. Who knows...!

Look, I lotht a tooth. Thee mom.

Brushy brushy....

Din't get to capture a pic of Darren's anyways, his new tooth was already there behind the old one...arrg. Hope he doesn't need braces.

Girl Power

We had a big snowfall, and so Stella and I spent some time clearing our drive way. I dare say we did a pretty good job. It was snowing so much, that after we finished, the first half we had done was already covered with 10cm of snow and needed a second round.

Lots of snow...

Valentine's Day

This day has never been just about me and my significant other, since I never had any till I was 23 and married. I always just celebrated it as a day of doing nice things for others. Since giving to others has always been fun for me, the anticipation of seeing someone's reaction to a surprise is multiplied over many times when I do things for other people and not just one person.

Even after being married, we always did something for random people in our home. Roses to all the single ladies, a card for the guys or some special treat for a good friend.

And this year was no different. Cards were given to all the guys, signed by all the ladies, and the latter each received one rose. (No one knew about the roses and the guys did not know about the cards and..did I forget to mention the chocolate?..I did.) Oh and I also was part of a secret surprise for someone...shhhhhh......Anyways, I had fun.

Besides I also did get something solid out of it all besides satisfaction of seeing a bunch of happy people, some tulips from DV and roses from Kenny who insisted that I buy them using his pocket money since they were a special present from him to me. So sweet.

So Happy Valentines to you all. May you use it to make someone's day brighter.

Christmas Present

We all know how impractical it is to drag a desktop from table to table, so in order to multi task, I got a laptop. Now, a few years later, carrying a laptop from place to place just didn't seem to cut it for this day and age, so I got this. It is small, handy and I can use it at any time: while nursing the baby, walking him around the room, and while riding in the car. Now I can truly redeem the time and play Solitaire throughout the day.

Kids and Their World

Liani was standing on the scale. I asked her what she was doing. She replied, " I'm sizing my weighs".

We were playing a board game that uses little cars. It's a game of life where you get jobs, buy a home and so on. At the end you retire. When explaining that to the kids, Kenny said, " Oh yes, it's when you get new tires so you can keep going."

When praying for the night Kenny asked, "Can we pray like the Mississippians?" (meaning Muslims)

One night I went to check on the kids to make sure they were doing good. Liani was out of bed on the other side of the room talking with the boys. I sent her to bed. About 10 min later I went back in the room cause I heard talking. Liani was again by the boys beds. I sent her back to bed. About 30 seconds later I heard talking again, came in the room and as soon as she saw me she said in a very exasperated voice, "Ohh, not again."

Liani was opening and closing drawers in the kitchen. This conversation ensued:
Mom: Please stop playing in the kitchen.
Liani: i am not playing I have to check on things that I am cooking.
Mom: Well, can you check on things in the dining room? The kitchen is dangerous.
Liani on her way out the door: Mom, a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do. Tsk tsk...little girl, big attitude.

Dead Zoo

I was told that when I was 2, we visited the natural history museum in Geneva, and when asked how my outing was, I said that we went to a zoo, but all the animals were dead.
We've revisited that dead zoo many times in my child hood, and I wanted to share that special experience with my kids as well....so since we were spending our vacation with my parents in their home in Geneva, we made a stop over.
Actually it is a very cool place with big realistic sceneries of animals and their habitats all over the world.

Kay got a camera for Christmas. Below are her shots of the museum sights.

Yup, it does have a two heads, no, I did not do that in photo shop, yes it is alive. On the bottom floor they have a couple terrariums with various reptiles on display. This guy was born the same year as my daughter. Of course she does not have two heads.....
